I would like to tell you why I am writing this blog, what I want to achieve with it. So, why a blog? Here, I will share ideas, thoughts and perspectives on what is going on in the world of chemistry. I will also likely comment on political subjects. But foremost, I will speak about one of my favorite subjects: Experiential Education. I’ll try to define it quickly here: Planning a venture that has the risk of failure and reflecting upon the experience.<\/em> This takes us out of the comfort zone \u2013 that comfy, snuggly place where we know how everything works and how to behave and perform. The venture zone<\/em> is entered. Here, risk is omnipresent, but we do not panic. This is that heart-is-bumping-in-the-chest feeling, the sweaty hands before going on stage for a big talk. This is where \u2013 in my mind \u2013 the most effective and deep learning (not the AI kind, but a fundamental change of how you view the world) happens. A challenge, a venture<\/em>, was overcome. This means something! This creates and reinforces your perception that you can solve problems, that you can move your barriers. A key step is reflection afterwards: A close examination of our feelings during the venture paves the way for learning to take place. Das bringt und aus der Komfortzone \u2013 jener gem\u00fctliche Ort, an dem wir wissen, wie alles funktioniert und wie wir uns verhalten m\u00fcssen. Wir kommen in die Wagniszone. Hier ist Risiko allgegenw\u00e4rtig, aber wir verfallen nicht in Panik. Das ist dieser Herzklopfen-Moment, dieses Lampenfieber kurz vor einem gro\u00dfen Auftritt auf der B\u00fchne. Die Wagniszone ist der Ort wo \u2013 meiner Meinung nach \u2013 das effektivste und nachhaltigste Lernen stattfindet. Eine Aufgabe, ein Wagnis, wurde bew\u00e4ltigt. Das bedeutet doch etwas! Dieser Erfolg bildet und verst\u00e4rkt dein Gef\u00fchl Probleme l\u00f6sen zu k\u00f6nnen, dass du deine Grenzen verschieben kannst.
